Passenger Activity at Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport
New Nonstop Destinations Helped Fuel Steady Growth

MESA, Ariz. — The Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport Authority proudly reports that passenger activity at Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport increased 4.1% last year, making 2015 the third busiest year for commercial airline service in the airport’s history.  The airport welcomed 1,305,755 total passengers, compared to 1,254,232 in 2014.

“We are pleased that Gateway Airport is attracting more and more air travelers from across the region,” remarked Executive Director Jane Morris.  “We applaud the continued investment that our partner Allegiant Air is making in the Phoenix-Mesa area and thank our loyal customers for their business. Gateway has become the airport of choice for many seeking low fares, easy access, and unparalleled convenience.”

Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport Authority Chairwoman Thelda Williams praised the important role the airport plays in Arizona.  “Gateway Airport is an economic engine for the entire region; creating jobs, facilitating commerce, and increasing connectivity to the global marketplace.  As the population of Greater Phoenix continues to grow in the future, it’s critically important that our air transportation infrastructure keeps pace.”

Gateway Airport now offers nonstop jet service to more than 35 destinations across the U.S.  The airport has offered commercial passenger services since 2007 and is regarded as one of the fastest growing airports in the country during the past five years.
