Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport Reports Best June Ever
Passenger Activity Up 15% Compared to Last Year

MESA, Ariz. — June 2016 was the second record month in a row for total passenger activity at Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport as passengers continue to flock to the airport for Allegiant’s low fares and new destinations.

Allegiant continues its strong performance in the Phoenix-Mesa region with 126,798 total passengers passing through the airport in June 2016; an increase of 15 percent compared to the same time period last year.  Allegiant’s expanded nonstop service offerings to 38 destinations - including Sonoma County, Memphis, Las Vegas, and Oakland - has proven to be very popular among local air travelers and those accessing the Valley of the Sun.

“More and more air travelers are choosing the convenience and value of flying Allegiant into and out of Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport,” said Interim Executive Director/CEO J. Brian O’Neill, A.A.E.  “Increasing passenger activity in the Valley means increasing economic growth across the region. Allegiant’s continued investment in Arizona is paying off -- both for our residents and sun-seeking tourists.”

Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport Authority’s fiscal year ended on June 30, 2016 with 1,331,901 total passengers; a five percent increase over the previous year.
