Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport Celebrates Eight Million Allegiant Passengers and Record Passenger Activity in October

MESA, Ariz. — Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport continued its year-long growth trajectory, posting the highest passenger traffic counts for the month of October in the airport’s history.  In October, 100,891 passengers traveled through the airport, an eight percent increase over October 2015.  In addition, the airport welcomed its eight millionth Allegiant passenger since the airline began operations in Mesa in 2007.

“More and more air travelers are discovering the value and convenience of using Gateway Airport,” said Executive Director/CEO J. Brian O’Neill, A.A.E.  “Customers appreciate our easy access, inexpensive parking, hassle-free terminal, and low airfares.”

Mesa Mayor John Giles, Chairman of the Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport Authority added, “Eight million Allegiant passengers in nine years is truly a success story.  Our partnership with Allegiant creates a significant economic benefit for the Phoenix East Valley.”

Allegiant Airlines currently provides nonstop service to 38 destinations from Gateway Airport, including the recently-added flight to Cleveland, Ohio that begins in February.  The airport will welcome over 1.4 million passengers this year and recently announced new non-stop service to Calgary and Edmonton on NewLeaf and WestJet Airlines.
